PocketPhonics (basic edition) App Reviews

I dont want to register.. So please STOP asking for names, emails and personal info. This is kids app not a socialization app. If I wanted Facebook or Twitter I can download them from the App Store.

My son has struggled with mastering phonics and certain letter combinations. Im excited to see how fast and how far hes come after using this app in just a few short weeks! Not only does he learn phonics, but also writing and sight words as well!

My 6 yr old kindergartener loves this awesome app.

This us so great! Im glad I took a chance on it. Teaches different kinds of handwriting and printing, as well as the phonics and spelling to go with it. AND it has a cursive option, which is SO important. I have my preschooler learning cursive, and I couldnt be more thrilled. Cursive us actually better for young brain development, and totally doable for the littles!

My child love it! Its so easy that he can navigate himself even without me watching him.

Doesnt work. App asks parents to enter the answer to a simple addition problem (such as 8+6) to gain access to the app. Unfortunately, when you enter the correct answer (such as 14), it tells you that youve entered the wrong answer and prompts you to try again. No matter how many times you enter the correct answer, it keeps you locked out. I even purposely tried wrong answers and it still didnt work.

My son has been using this app and his progress has been great. Ive contacted support to provide suggestions and they responded promptly. You can clearly see the time and effort the developers have put into this app. I cant say enough. The fact that it incorporates writing the letters, the letters are sounded out, the spelling challenges that use the sound of the letters and has the child pick the letters to make words, I could go on and on but its just easier for you to get the application and experience it yourself. I know this review sounds like it might be coming from the company but I dont work for them. I wish I did so I could say I was part of this wonderful application and help all those children. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing what else you come up with.

I have been very pleased with how well thought out the app works for kids.

Glad I purchased this app. It is very good for understanding where my child is with regards to reading ability. He is learning words, which is great. I thought this app was too simple at first but it does get more difficult as it goes along. Simple but effective. Like the online certificates and email updates also.

My 5 yr old loves this app and his knowledge of phonics improved using this app. Thank you

This is a great app for learning how to write and recognize letters. However, I wish the voice would also speak the actual name of the letter before vocalizing how it is pronounced.

I love that students can progress at individual rates! The students love earning certificates, and I just have to open my email and print the certificates! Thank you!

Im a first grade teacher with children of many skill levels in my classroom. I needed a solid researched program to help children learn letter sounds, and to be able to use them in making words. I needed this to be motivating enough that I wouldnt need to be standing over the child insuring that they were staying on it. I needed it to be individualized for individual needs, and beginning with very basic sounds, yet also having the capability to include consonant and vowel digraphs. I wanted to get the results go each childs progress to be sent to me. I wanted it to use lower case letters, and to be American English sounds. I needed a program that could remain on the same 6 letters for one student and yet go ahead to more letters for another. Im very pleased with Pocket Phonics. It does what I am needing. I just wish I had more than one iPad for my class.

Was excited to buy this app for my grandson and it doesnt work. When it asked a verification question for the adult to proceed it just says the answer is incorrect. I have wasted my hard earned money. Cant even contact the company because you have to do the verification to even do that. I am saddened that a company would do this to people.

This app has helped my 2 children so much! If you are looking for a app that help your kids with learning to read this is it!!!

My five year old was trying the free app and got into it right away. Was spelling words within the first few minutes. To those complaining about the verification. Look closer to the problem, it says (at least on mine) 8 x 6 not 8+6. So the answer is 48. You can enter 14 all you want, but it is not correct.

Both of my kids are bi lingual Hebrew and English. Im not pushing English on them from a reading point of view yet, but they both enjoy tracing the letters and finding them in the words.

I am a mother of two boys, 3 & 5. I have had this app for 3 years. I homeschool my boys and started this app as a median to teach sounds form words. I began this app with my eldest son at 2 yrs old. He had already memorized his letter and some of their sounds by 18 months. He loved this app and making words. I love that this app teaches phonetics as that is how i teach to read. My eldest son was reading simple 3 to 4 word sentences at the age of 3yrs. I now use this for my youngest son and it is helping with his speech (he is also in speech therapy with his school). He can now build words using sounds, but has issues with multiple syllable words. I do wish i could adjust some of the practice words, add more words to help build more practice, and create a more gradual learning curve. However, overall it does work and it is a great tool!

It is fun and they dont even know they are learning!
